Job Title: Industrial Designer
Reports to: Manager, Advanced Research
Overview : Position seeks and develops new and innovative ideas for products, designs, sketches, and builds storyboards using 3D capabilities to visualize and implement ideas.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Brings new age technologies and concepts to life through visual representations. This includes ideas for bats, protective equipment, balls, gloves, etc. Provides verbal and physical presentation of new ideas for business and marketing teams.
Develops and creates product concepts for a commercialization level.
Applies new age technology concepts and consumer vision to help promote our new age technologies to other business and marketing associates.
Create and maintain design documentation of quality 3D CAD data packages for modeling and prototyping to interface with Design Engineers and Graphics department.
Networks with a wide range of potential partnerships, from ground level inventors to large international corporations.
Manages various multiple projects at once, while maintaining professional relationships with several internal and external teams and partners.
Participate in ideation sessions that generate innovations through use of market research and trends.
Draft sketches and illustrations of potential products or work on enhancing an existing product to make it more appealing to consumers.
Fabricate models using samples.
Research consumer design trends and product limitations.
Work with engineering, marketing, production, and/or sales departments to establish and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products.
Test designs in focus groups or surveys.
Perform research on appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics.
Work on packaging designs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
BS degree Industrial Design or related field.
Highly proficient in 3D design and modeling software – NX or Solidworks preferred.
Strong affinity to develop an understanding of the ever changing sporting goods market.
Minimum 3 years experience in product design or new product engineering or similar position.
Mechanical aptitude in common manufacturing techniques including injection and compression molding, composites, vacuum forming, soft goods.
Strong team building and communication skills.
Strong presentation and demonstration skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
Proficient in rendering and digitizing tools – example Wacom digital tablet.
