Job Title: Financial Analyst
Department: Financial Planning & Analysis
Reports to: Director, Financial Planning & Analysis
General Overview: Broad analytical support within the FP&A function for assigned business unit. Responsibilities include assisting with building and maintaining the annual budget, consisting of a complete P&L, Balance Sheet and Statement of Cash Flows. Provides ad hoc internal and external reporting and analysis projects for management. Assists the Director, FP&A in interpreting monthly financial results including analysis of variances to budget.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Supports Director, FP&A in compiling and providing analysis toward all business unit planning, forecasting and strategic planning activities:
Assists in the preparation of the annual business unit budget and quarterly forecasts, including sales, margin and operating expense targets
Assists in efficient execution of budget and forecast commitments, including communication to management of progress towards attainment and plans to effect course correction as necessary
Assists with the financial inputs for the 5 year strategic plan
Assists in preparation of periodic management reports and presentations as required by corporate (weekly, monthly & quarterly)
Manages budget and forecast models to prepare and report on variances at month, quarter and year end
Manages key metrics and models to assess profitability of product lines, brands and key customers, working capital efficiencies, ROI, etc.
Analytical Support and Business Insights
Updates key business monitoring/reporting tools (Cognos) used at regular intervals. Develops new reports as needed (Cognos, Showcase).
Tracks sales progress through Cognos and monitors sales, profit margins, SKU count, and inventory levels/costs and compares with business plan.
Analyze at-once business opportunities that deviate from published programs.
Supports assigned business unit
Assists in the development and maintenance of key planning tools such as the Cost Price Worksheet (CPW).
Analyzes individual sku performance and how product lines are performing versus established sku ceilings.
Supports development and publication of transitional/close-out product lists.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
Prefer 2-4 years’ experience in business or financial planning/analysis or related field.
Strong analytical skills, communications skills, and organization skills. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with “data mining” programs (Cognos, Showcase or similar) preferred
Ability to take direction and work autonomously when needed.
Proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel).
