Reports To : Senior Brand Manager -Lifoam

Primary Purpose of Position:

The Product Manager will help investigate and drive development of products and product enhancements, taking into account numerous factors related to market demographics, competitor profiles, and point-of-sale metrics. This role will be responsible for maintaining a clear and concise analysis of market performance and help identify areas of market penetration for a specific product category.

Over 50 years ago, Lifoam industries, LLC created the world's first EPS foam cooler, and with it, an entire new industry. Lifoam continues to draw on its unique experience, manufacturing and distribution capabilities to suit a wide range of medical, industrial and retail applications. From products that transport valuable medical cures to recreational EPS Foam Coolers, as well as other complementary non-EPS products such as Ice Substitutes and plastic cutlery.

The Product Manager will lead key components of market and consumer research, brand strategy; including development and execution in-market; primarily focused on the plastic cutlery portfolio. The breadth of these programs will touch a full suite of digital outreach. This person will also manage new product projects, from insight to ideation to execution. A specific call out to NPD work includes responsibility for packaging development and for bringing these products to market aligned with our equity principles.

The Lifoam environment is fast-paced, lean and decidedly entrepreneurial. Ergo, the Product Manager must be an idea-a-day generator, a grab-the-reigns leader, and a dot-the-I’s doer, taking both the initiative and the accountability for programs and their results. Importantly, the Product Manager needs to bring a dash of fun, a little bit of laughter and a whole lot of energy to the Lifoam business – seems fair because we all do.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Drive sales and profitability growth for the Lifoam franchise.

  • Manage business reporting, including monthly dashboards, competitor/marketplace analyses, and ROI analyses for programs

  • Gain a deep understanding of customer experience, identify and fill product gaps and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience and drive growth.

  • Take leadership role in demand forecasting team, translating marketing activities and category conditions into clear direction alongside Sales and Supply Chain team members.

  • Develop new ideas and improvements that can improve margin and profitability.

  • Identify areas for category management (rationalization) using performance-based metrics surrounding sku efficiency.

  • Bring brand equity vision to life in the marketplace.

  • Develop product pricing and positioning strategies.

  • Lead all packaging development and execution, improving consumer appeal, retail presence and sustainability.

  • Lead development of new claims for existing and new products that achieve meaningful differentiation versus competition.

  • Collaborate with Sales and Trade Marketing organizations to achieve strong retail programs and customer delight.

  • Participate in forecasting and planning activities to ensure customer service and OTD goals are met.

  • Use consumer and market research to develop insights leading to retail promotion strategies for growth.

  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements and prototypes.

  • Collaborate with Brand team to develop and enhance strong in-store programs, including shelf planograms and displays, to drive growth.

  • Coordinate with Trade Marketing in/out product offerings as appropriate for customer-specific promotions.

  • Develop collateral materials, product samples, sell-in presentations to support Sales meetings and Field.

  • Be a leader in the organization.

  • As member of several cross-functional teams, take leadership role and model key success behaviors of communication, teamwork, accountability, and results-focus.

  • Raise level of understanding across organization of our consumers, our brands, and the external marketplace.

Qualifications:

Education

Bachelors degree in Marketing or related discipline

Experience/Knowledge

  • Two years of consumer marketing experience in an entrepreneurial, brand-driven company with limited resources.

  • Fundamental understanding of consumer packaged goods marketing—promotion planning, market research, project management, and general understanding of financials/P&L statements.

  • Demonstrated leadership positions

  • Self-starter with the ability to lead projects—consumer promotions, commercialization of new product initiatives, etc., with little supervision. The Product Manager must ‘own’ projects/assignments, not be simply task oriented.

  • Ability to plan and manage at both the strategic and operational levels

  • Attention to and passion for executional excellence

  • Keen instinct and intellect for identifying consumer insights, then developing “big ideas” to capitalize on them in the marketplace

  • Ability to self-direct work activity; self-motivated and exceptional, strong work ethic

  • Outstanding people management skills—experience and expertise building collaborative relationships throughout the organization

  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively; write succinctly; read, comprehend, and follow complicated verbal and written instructions

  • Proficient and skilled developer of content in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Physical Requirements and Work Environment :

• Sitting at workstation approximately 85 percent of work time. Standing and walking approximately 15 percent of work time.

• Must be able to travel 10-15 percent of work time.

• Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.

• Typical office environment with shelves overhead and above work surfaces.
